Confirmation

The sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. (CCC. 1285)

Youth Confirmation

Preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation provides young people with the opportunity to really focus on his or her relationship with God, with the Church, with others, and with him- or herself. This sacrament strengthens Confirmed teens to courageously and authentically live out the life of discipleship and the mission of the Church.

Teens are invited to become candidates beginning in the spring of their 9th grade year or later, and the sacrament is typically celebrated the following spring. For more information regarding Confirmation for our parish's youth, please contact our Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Ms. Rena Black

Confirmation Sponsors

At baptism, a sponsor (godparent) takes upon himself/herself the responsibility of helping the newly baptized person mature in the living a Christian life and offers his or her own life and practice of the faith as an example of faith, prayer and service within the Catholic Church. Similarly, the Sponsor for Confirmation continues that work for the person who is to be confirmed. The sponsor should be committed to being a part of the candidate’s life by presence and prayer. One’s “yes” to an invitation to be a sponsor for Confirmation is not just a “yes” to the candidate for a short period of time, but a serious commitment to God to walk with the candidate on their journey of faith, for the long haul. The parish staff are happy to support and accompany sponsors as they begin this journey!

Confirmation Sponsor Requirments

  • Someone other than the parent of the one to be confirmed.

  • Has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist.

  • At least 16 years of age and may be male or female regardless of the sex of the candidate.

  • Leads a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be undertaken; therefore, if married, must be married in the Church and if single, must be striving to live a chaste life and therefore cannot be living with a person outside of marriage.

  • A practicing Catholic, registered in a parish, who regularly attends Mass on Sundays and Holy Days and receives the Holy Eucharist.

Adult Confirmation Preparation

If you are 18 or older and are interested in receiving the sacrament of Confirmation, please contact our pastoral associate, Dan Miller, for more information.
